In this class I expect to further my understanding of grammatical concepts as well as learn when and where to use punctuation. Punctuation, especially the use of commas, has always been a weakness of mine.
One of my major personal interests is theater. I love to act and dramas are so much fun to write. I own a collection of all of Shakespeare's plays, though I must admit I have not gotten around to reading very many of them. I am a part the youth drama team that is affiliated with my church. I dread the day I turn 21, though, as I will not be able to participate in performances from that age forward.
Another passion of mine is the use of my talents to better the world. My vision at this point for post completion of my education at SUM is to open a children and teen refuge center. It would accommodate under aged youth that are in domestic violence or dangerous situations. I see a need in my home town for these young people that unfortunately do not have a voice in dictating their circumstances and it is easily observed that there are just not enough foster homes to go around. I would like to educate and train myself to be able to deal with these difficult situations in order to keep the greatest asset of all humanity an asset and not let our children become a hinderance to society.
This is very interesting Holly. I didn't know how much you love and enjoy theater! Also I like your idea about a teen refuge center. I think that with God behind it, it will be an awesome thing one day. :)
ReplyDeleteI think a teen refuge center is an awesome idea:) I'm sure that after your time with the youth drama department you can go on to other things. After all drama is for all ages!
ReplyDeleteHolly,
ReplyDeleteThis is just a thought...When you turn 21 perhaps you can help direct and/or offer feedback to the youth as they perform in these theatricals. Acting is definitely something I would like to explore more. Recently, I was hired as an extra by the 700 Club. The role I played was definitely "out of my character" to say the least- but that's what acting is all about! I wish you the best in your endeavors.
